Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested two suspected arms traffickers and recovered two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) warheads, an RPG launcher, and other items linked to bandit networks in Gombe State.

The suspects, 55-year-old Muhammed Alhaji Mohammed and 47-year-old Sani Gesha, were intercepted at Mararaban Tula in Kaltungo Local Government Area while travelling in a grey Toyota Corolla (Taraba JAL475YQ). Security sources said the operation followed three weeks of covert surveillance of a bandit cell involved in arms trafficking across Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Adamawa States. The suspects reportedly confessed that the consignment was intended for delivery to one Ardo Hamma Ari of Kukawa Village, Alkaleri LGA, Bauchi State.

In a related operation, DSS operatives rescued six-year-old Mohammed Jabir in Gyada Village, Talase, Balanga LGA. He was kidnapped by Salisu Hussain under the pretense of teaching him to ride a motorcycle. The kidnapper was arrested, and the boy was safely returned to his parents, who expressed gratitude to the DSS.

The suspects remain in DSS custody and are expected to be arraigned in court soon.
