Christmas: Gov Mbah preaches love, peace, hope

The Association of Emeritus Lawmakers of the Enugu State House of Assembly (AELESHA), made up of former Speakers and principal officers, has congratulated the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on his third year in office.

The group made the commendation during its plenary held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Enugu Sports Club, Club Riad, Enugu.

In a communique, the former lawmakers said they were pleased with what they described as major developments recorded under the Mbah administration across key sectors of the state economy.

The body highlighted improvements in transportation, including the Enugu Air project, modern bus terminals, upgraded urban road networks and gateway roads, as well as ongoing infrastructure initiatives such as the 260 ward based Smart Schools and Type II Hospitals.

They also referenced the New Enugu Smart City project, the International Conference Centre, and the rehabilitation of the long abandoned Presidential Hotel in Enugu.

According to them, the administration’s allocation of over 33 percent of the budget to education, alongside the commissioning of the Haier factory, a $20 million assembly plant for laptops, smartphones and spare parts, reflects a strong commitment to economic and human capital development.

The group also commended the 042 Ride Taxi Youth Empowerment Scheme, describing it as a programme capable of creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people while improving public transportation in the state.

The former lawmakers further expressed satisfaction with the governor’s support for Rangers International Football Club, which they described as a symbol of resilience and identity for the Igbo people.
