NAFDAC has rejected reports suggesting that enforcement of the ban on sachet alcohol and alcoholic drinks in 200ml PET bottles has been suspended.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control said claims circulating online that a Federal Government directive ordered it to halt enforcement are false and misleading.
NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, stated that the agency has not received any official communication from the government instructing a suspension of regulatory action.
The ban remains in effect under existing laws and regulatory frameworks.
NAFDAC urged the public, industry stakeholders, and media outlets to disregard the unverified reports and rely only on information issued through its official channels.
The agency emphasised its commitment to protecting public health, ensuring compliance in the food and beverage sector, and warned that misinformation could cause unnecessary public concern and misinterpretation of policy.
