A student of the University of Jos has reportedly been abducted by armed men along the Kaduna to Jos highway, in an incident that has triggered widespread concern after a disturbing video surfaced online showing the victim in captivity.
The victim, identified as John Arum Azi, is said to have been taken by suspected bandits who later demanded a ransom of ₦30 million for his release. The footage, which has circulated among contacts linked to the school community, shows him under severe distress while being assaulted by his abductors.
In the same video, the attackers are heard making remarks aimed at intimidating the victim, with accounts claiming he was forced under duress to make statements renouncing his Christian faith. These claims remain part of what has been reported from the video, and have not been independently verified by authorities.
The incident has drawn attention to worsening insecurity along major highways in the region, where kidnappings for ransom have become increasingly frequent. Students and residents have continued to express fear over travel routes considered vulnerable to armed attacks.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official confirmation on his rescue or any breakthrough in negotiations. Security agencies are yet to release detailed public information regarding efforts to locate the victim or apprehend those responsible.

The situation remains under watch as calls grow for swift intervention and improved security across affected routes.
