The South-West Zonal President of Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria, Tope Akinwumi has urged Governors in the region to employ more health officers, due to growing challenges.

Speaking at the 7th South-West Conference of the association in Akure, Ondo State capital, Akinwumi lamented the devastating effects of climate change on the society.

Environmental Health Officers across the South-West gathered in Akure, Ondo State capital, for their 7th Scientific Conference, with the theme; Digitisation of Environmental Health Practice.

Some of the issues raised for discussion are ceaseless flooding, increased waste generation, climate change among others.
In his speech, the President of the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria in the South-West, Tope Akinwumi urged governors in the zone to employ more environmental health workers to address growing challenges.

Representative of the Ondo state government said efforts are ongoing to tackle various environmental issues in the state.

The Special Adviser to the State Governor on Health, Professor Dayo Faduyile said environmental officers must rise up to the task of keeping the environment safe.

Others in their goodwill messages stressed the need for promotion of healthy living.

The association urged members to upgrade their skills, towards providing solutions to environmental health related issues in the country.
