Peter Obi Says Tinubu Is "Tired" and Should Leave Office After 2027

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is “tired” and should step aside after the 2027 general election.

Obi maintained that he is not driven by a personal ambition to become Nigeria’s president, stressing that his main concern is ensuring the country works for its citizens.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the former Anambra State governor faulted the Tinubu administration, arguing that its economic policies have worsened poverty across the country.

He claimed that some Nigerians who previously owned thriving businesses have been forced into selling kuli-kuli to survive.

He said: “Tinubu is tired and needs to go home and rest. When Tinubu came into power 87 million Nigerians were in poverty but today it’s 140 million.

“Insecurity has gotten worse. Which hope are they going to renew again? You can’t renew failure.

“I am not desperate to be President of Nigeria. There’s a way you will fail in school, they will ask you to leave the school.

“People who had business when you came into power are now people who are selling kuli-kuli.”
