Bonny Island, a community in the southern edge of River State, today January 11, 2021, had the residents stage a peaceful protest over what they termed as incessant attacks by sea pirates, Njenje Media News reports.
A source said said the attacks (killing, robbing, kidnapping, rape, among others) have been going on for years, on the sea, which is the community’s major means of transportation.
In his words of the Source;
“We’re calling on the Federal, State and local government to come our aid, and give us a permanent solution.”
“Bonny Island contributes a lot to the GDP of Nigeria with the location of multinationals like Shell, Mobil, among others. We shouldn’t be neglected,”
