SPECIAL REPORT: Nzuko Umunna Visits Gov. Ugwuanyi Of Enugu State On Regional Security Outfit, Ban On Open Grazing And De-proscribing Of IPOB

SPECIAL REPORT OF THE SPECIAL VISIT OF NZUKO UMUNNA TO THE GOVERNOR OF ENUGU STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY Rt. HON. IFEANYI UGWUANYI ON THE 6TH OF OCTOBER, 2020.

The 10 man delegation of Nzuko Umunna, an Igbo Social cultural group has visited the Governor of Enugu State. The group arrived the Government House, Enugu by 6:45pm and the Governor arrived at exactly 7:00pm and welcome the delegation.

The Opening Prayer was said by Rev. Fr. Barr. Anthony Ezeoke and after which the Leader of the delegation Prof. Pat Utomi called on members to briefly introduce themselves.

Distinguished Sen. Chris Anyanwu highlighted the reason for the visit to the Governor and the need to give hope to the people who are hopeless.

The delegation made presentations to the Governor on different issues of utmost concern to Ndigbo which bothers on Alaigbo Regional Security Architecture, Ban on Open Grazing, De-proscribing of IPOB so as to forestall the killing of our youths, and Alaigbo Integration etc.

In response the Governor responded to the questions asked by the delegation and said he was in support of our demands but that as an elected public servant he has limits to his actions as he swore to uphold the constitution. He however advised as a way of effective engagement that Ndigbo should review our engagement strategy so as to enable us make significant progress as a region. He also advised Ndigbo to have a research, documentation, contact and handshake teams to enable us compare notes for our regional progress and development. Governor Ugwuanyi also admonished against being loud. That we should plan, organize and not agonize.

He also prayed for all to make good use of social media platforms and not the usual attacks been meted out to leaders. But to constructively engage our leaders like how this visit is being conducted.

The Governor called for total Reconciliation among Ndigbo to help our progress and development. He proposed that a channel of engagement be opened up at all levels with defined mission and strategy to help our Regional development and cohesion. The Governor hinted his readiness to play any role required of him to bring about regional Integration, Security of lives and properties and peaceful co-existence amongst ourselves and our neighbors. The Governor also asked us to work hard to get the buy-in of all critical stakeholders and the masses in our bid to reposition Alaigbo. He also advocated for a team to always engage the different critical stakeholders both in government and outside of government for the overall interest of Alaigbo.

In conclusion, the Governor thanked the Nzuko Umunna delegation and promised to always support our programs and vision.
