Obidients movement is the newness trend in today’s polity that came with the intention to take over presidency from APC govt in 2023 and actualize Igbo Presidency. The movement had succeeded in organizing millions and billions matches in most southern cities and few states in the north for the Presidential candidate of labour party Mr Peter Obi
However, nigerian politics is a page-less book that needs to be studied before coming to play. But most Obidients are new comers into the system. They came with shallow ideas of political engagement. Obidients are being driven by emotions and the movement was built on imagination. These are mostly young people who have never take part in the electoral process. My happiness is, they will be part of history in 2023.Their participation matters a lot in the current political dispensation. They believed the electoral system have improved under PMB where rigging is likely impossible and it will open their eyes to see democracy by its true color (game of number) and they will understand politics by it nature (game of interest).
It gives a sense of belonging to have solid and massive support from home. In my simple findings, I discovered majority of serious political actors in the south East are not supporting Obi’s candidature. While the few supporting Obi are being subjected to an action without producing a reaction. In a simple term, they are passive politicians. The non – politicians among igbos who have zero understanding of Nigerian politics are mostly Obi’s supporters. And the chances of obi wining south East as strongholds lies on the structures built by serious and active political actors in both PDP and APC.
Alas, Obidient movement aren’t aware of the facts that some factors are threatening Obi’s chances of winning elections in Nigeria 🇳🇬.
Obi’s recent Interview exonerating IPOB as his associates “I lived with them” have sent a great concerns to the generality of Nigerians. Obi’s running mate is unpopular politician who have no intrepidity to balance the equation of representing entire north. Obi was also reported looking for sympathy from churches and from the people who envy Fulani’s domination. This has been the strategy to gain support in the north. It was revealed that Obi couldn’t reach out to real stakeholders of PDP and Igbo political actors when he was humiliated before PDP primaries but he chooses to decamp alone and flags labour party singlehandedly. Obi’s recent visit to Sheikh Gumi also trigger suspicion about his stand against bandits. Obi is running for election of the office of the president without a manifesto and structure. Obi is the only candidate claiming youth at the age of 62.
And Obidients couldn’t find anything wrong in all these blunders and clumsy. Obi often used wrong analysis on national issues that undermine his intellectual capacity and integrity. Anyone trying to correct or apprise Obi’s lies, Obidients will dislike such person with endless insults. The miscalculation that continue to deceives most Obidients is the empty perception that north will divide their votes for APC and PDP without considering south will also divide it’s votes to APC PDP and LP. The polity is becoming interested day by day with the Obidients movement – while the movement is gradually declining, probably because of uncertainty in Obi’s mendacities.
