TROOPS APPREHEND TERRORIST MASTERMIND OF ATTACK ON VILLAGES IN TARABA

Taraba, Nigeria– In a major breakthrough, the troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have successfully captured the terrorist mastermind behind a recent deadly attack on Mararaban Azagawa Village. The swift operation follows the tragic incident on 16 June 2024, which resulted in the deaths of five villagers and left several others injured, Njenje Media reports.

The troops, stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Bali Local Government Area, acted on credible intelligence to launch a targeted operation. The primary suspect, Hassan Ibrahim, also known as Godu, aged 39, was apprehended. During the arrest, the troops recovered a Dane gun, cartridges, and a motorcycle belonging to one of the victims from Ibrahim.

Njenje Media reports that Hassan Ibrahim has confessed to orchestrating the attack and is currently cooperating with authorities, providing vital information that could lead to the apprehension of his accomplices. This successful operation underscores the effectiveness of the intelligence-led approach adopted by the Nigerian Army in combating terrorism.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Sector 3 OPWS, praised the local community for their crucial support and information that led to the capture of the suspect. He urged continued public cooperation to enhance the Brigade’s efforts in eradicating criminal activities in Taraba State.

The apprehension of Hassan Ibrahim marks a significant achievement for the Nigerian Army and represents a crucial step toward restoring peace and security in the region.
