U.S. President Donald Trump says the United States and Iran have held talks aimed at a “complete and total resolution of hostilities” in the Middle East.
He noted that the discussions led to a decision to postpone planned strikes on Iranian power plants, triggering an immediate drop in oil and gas prices. Days earlier, Trump had issued a 48-hour ultimatum for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks on its energy infrastructure.
The statement reflects a more conciliatory tone, though uncertainties remain. Trump also held talks with Keir Starmer, with both leaders agreeing that reopening the Strait of Hormuz is vital for global shipping.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces says it expects several more weeks of fighting against Iran and Hezbollah, underscoring continued tensions in the region.
