Veteran Nollywood actor Odurukwe Ken has appealed to Nigerians and colleagues in the film industry for urgent financial assistance to treat cataracts, revealing that he is struggling to afford the medical care required for his condition.
The actor made the appeal in a video shared by Nigerian entertainment blogger Flying Angel TV, where he spoke about his health challenges and expressed gratitude to those who had supported him.
Reports published on October 27, 2026, indicated that actresses Destiny Etiko and Lizzy Gold were the only Nollywood colleagues who had contributed financially at the time, donating ₦100,000 each towards his treatment.
His situation has prompted calls for other actors, industry stakeholders and members of the public to assist him in raising the money needed for his medical care.
Several Nigerians have reportedly expressed concern over the difficulties veteran entertainers face when dealing with serious health conditions, particularly after spending years working in the film industry.
Some have urged the actor to make his bank account details available so that willing supporters can contribute directly towards his treatment.
The appeal has also reignited conversations about the welfare of ageing and financially vulnerable Nollywood actors, with calls for stronger support systems to help entertainers access medical care after years of service to the industry.
