Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has officially emerged as the Accord Party’s governorship candidate for the August 8, 2026 election in Osun State.
The declaration followed Wednesday’s primary election, where the Secretary of the Primary Committee, Abdulazeez Salahudeen, announced that 150 delegates participated. Governor Adeleke secured a commanding 145 votes, while 5 votes were rendered invalid.
Prior to voting, the party’s screening committee—led by Elder Ibe Thankgod—had screened and cleared Adeleke as the sole aspirant for the primaries, confirming that he met all requirements for nomination.
Delegates representing the 30 local government areas cast their votes under the observation of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
After the count, the National Chairman of Accord Party, Maxwell Mgbudem, presented Adeleke with the Certificate of Return, congratulating him and urging party members statewide to return home and begin mobilizing for his victory in 2026.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Adeleke expressed deep appreciation to the electoral committee and Accord Party members for entrusting him with the party’s flag ahead of the governorship race.
