The Coalition of United Political Parties has appointed Comrade Agu Bryan Diamond as its Acting Spokesperson.
In an appointment letter dated August 6, 2026, and signed by the coalition’s Acting National Chairman, Peter Ameh, the coalition said the appointment followed the approval of its Steering Committee at an emergency meeting held on August 2.
According to the letter, Diamond’s appointment will be on a six-month probationary basis, after which it will be subject to final ratification. The coalition said confirmation of the appointment would depend on his satisfactory and exemplary performance during the probation period.
It said Diamond’s primary responsibility would be to articulate the positions of opposition political parties on issues relating to what it described as the shortcomings and non-performance of the government in power.
The coalition also stressed that it is not a platform for endorsing candidates seeking elective office, warning the new spokesperson against using the CUPP platform to support any individual, candidate or political party without prior written approval from the Steering Committee.
While congratulating Diamond on his appointment, the coalition acknowledged the challenges associated with opposition politics and urged him to discharge his responsibilities with integrity, discipline and commitment to the objectives of the coalition.
