Obiano Pardons 5, Dethrones 3 Out Of The 12 suspended Monarchs In Anambra

The governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano has recalled 5 and dethroned 3 out of the 12 suspended monarchs who accompanied Prince Engr Arthur Eze for an audience with the Presidency in August 2020.

Njenje Media can authoritatively report that the traditional rulers were in Awka yesterday where they signed documents reinstating them.

According to Uche Nworah, MD/CEO of broadcasting services, “Anambra state government has lifted the suspension of five traditional rulers in the state, namely; (1) Igwe Simon Ikechukwu Chidubem of Umumbo (2) Igwe A.N Onwuneme of Ikenga (3) Igwe Mark Anthony Okonkwo of Alor (4) Igwe Chukwuma Bob Vincent Orji of Ezinifite and (5) Igwe S.O Uche of Ezira.

This is contained in a statement dated 17th December, 2020, and signed by Greg .I. Obi, Anambra state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.

The Commissioner also said that the one year suspension of; (1) Igwe Kelly N. Nkeli of Igbariam (2) Igwe Dr. Emeka Ilouno of Ifitedunu and (3) Igwe Peter . A. Uyanwa of Ukwulu continues subject to future review as may be necessary.

The state government also withdrew the certificate of recognition as traditional rulers (Igwes) of the following; (1) Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo of Nawfia (2) Igwe Anthony Onyekwere of Owelle and (3) Igwe G. B. C Mbakwe of Abacha.

Igwes whose certificates of recognition have been withdrawn are directed to submit their certificates of recognition to the Secretary of the local government of their communities within a month of this announcement.

Njenje Media can recall, that Chief Tochukwu Ezeoke, the CEO Njenje Media had earlier called for the lifting of the suspension by the governor of Anambra state, citing that 12 months is too long a time in the life of a community to be without an Igwe to avoid trouble makers utilising the opportunity to cause trouble.
