Village Boys Movement to ADC: Adopt Peter Obi as Your Consensus Candidate for 2027 Presidential Election
Village Boys Movement urges ADC party leaders to adopt Peter Obi as consensus candidate to defeat President Tinubu and the APC in 2027
Abuja, Nigeria | April 20, 2026
The Village Boys Movement calls on the leadership and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to immediately begin the process of building a broad internal consensus around Mr. Peter Obi as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
According to the movement, this is not the time for internal ego contests, elite bargaining, or avoidable fragmentation within the opposition. The national mood demands a candidate with proven national appeal, cross regional acceptance, disciplined messaging, and the moral credibility to rally Nigerians who want political change.
“The ADC must understand the gravity of the moment. Nigeria is hurting. Families are under pressure. Young people are disillusioned. The opposition cannot afford to gamble away this historic opportunity by ignoring the most acceptable candidate in the field.”
The Village Boys Movement believes that Mr. Peter Obi remains the strongest consensus option available to the ADC because he commands unusual support among young voters, urban professionals, grassroots citizens, and many Nigerians seeking a credible alternative to the APC.
The movement further states that while many aspirants may have political value, only a candidate with wide public trust and a reform minded image can effectively unify the coalition and energize undecided voters across the country. It says Peter Obi’s entry into the ADC has already strengthened the party’s national visibility and sharpened public attention around the 2027 contest.
“Let it be said clearly, this is bigger than ambition. It is about national rescue. It is about the future of democracy. It is about presenting to Nigerians a ticket that inspires hope, confidence, and mass participation. On that score, Mr. Peter Obi stands tallest.”
The Village Boys Movement therefore urges ADC leaders, delegates, coalition partners, and democratic stakeholders to put country above self and rally behind a consensus process that produces Peter Obi as the party’s flag bearer. Any process that deepens division within the coalition could weaken the opposition’s chances against President Tinubu and the APC in 2027.
The group maintains that history often rewards political movements that can read the moment correctly and act with courage. It adds that the ADC has a rare opportunity to demonstrate seriousness, unity, and strategic intelligence by rallying around the candidate it describes as the most acceptable and best positioned to lead a victorious national coalition.
