The influential Igbo socio-political group, Aka Ikenga, has mourned the death of one of its founding members, Dr. Chris Chigoziri Asoluka, who passed away on May 9, 2025, at the age of 70. A respected technocrat and public servant, Asoluka was honoured with glowing tributes during his final rites held in Owerri, Imo State, on July 24, 2025.
In a statement issued by its Director of Communications, Collins Steve Ugwu, the President of Aka Ikenga, Agbalanze Chike Madueke, described Asoluka as “a ladder for history, stamina and revelation.”
> “People like Chris don’t just depart and disappear, not in the least in Aka Ikenga. He illuminated every space he touched, planting seeds that became trees and tending grasses that became oaks,” Madueke said.
Dr. Asoluka, fondly known as Okwuruoha Ndigbo, was a former Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations and served as Imo State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development. He held several academic degrees, including a Ph.D. in Policy Analysis and a law degree from the University of London.
He was also the founder of NIPAL Consulting Network, through which he provided legislative and economic consultancy to institutions across Nigeria.
A night of tribute was earlier held in Lagos on July 17, attended by notable personalities including Peter Obi, Tony Elumelu, and Prof. Pat Utomi. Asoluka’s legacy lives on through his contributions to governance, his writings, and his children, Somachi, Jamachi, and Lemachi.
