New NADDC Boss Commends Innoson Vehicles During Factory Visit

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) Director General, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, visited Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing plants in Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State, on November 14th, in a move to strengthen the indigenous automotive industry through collaboration.

Osanipin, an IT Audit expert, embarked on a comprehensive tour of Innoson’s production facilities, led by Chief Dr. Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, the visionary founder and Chairman of Innoson Vehicles. The visit encompassed both the operational vehicle production plant in Uru and the new facility currently under construction at Umuezena.

During the visit, Osanipin commended Innoson Vehicles for its significant contributions to the Nigerian automotive sector. Notably, he praised the company’s commitment to manufacturing vehicles with over 70% local content, acknowledging the positive impact on the nation’s economy.

In his remarks, Osanipin expressed his surprise and satisfaction with the efforts and investments made by Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing in advancing the Nigerian automotive industry. He stated, “From what I have seen today, I’m even positively surprised. I never thought we have this kind of investment and expertise going on in the industry, as seen here in Innoson.”

He further highlighted Innoson’s commitment to increasing local content, stating, “The percentage of local content in those Innoson airport buses is between 60-70%, and gradually we hope to get to 80% and from there we know we can achieve more.”

Looking ahead, Osanipin encouraged Nigerians to support the ‘made in Nigeria’ initiative by purchasing locally manufactured vehicles. He assured continued support and partnerships for all auto manufacturers in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for industry growth.

In response, Chief Dr. Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, the CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd, expressed gratitude for the timely visit and unwavering support from the NADDC. He disclosed that the new factory under construction is dedicated to the production of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, focusing on mass transit solutions and individual or corporate needs.

Chukwuma added, “I appreciate the Director General’s recognition of our efforts and commitment to supporting local manufacturers. This visit by our new DG is essential for him to get more ideas on what to do. I’m grateful to him for coming.”

The new factory aligns with Innoson’s vision of providing sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation solutions. The project aims to support Nigeria in various CNG productions, manufacturing CNG vehicles of all capacities.
