Ohanaeze Felicitates Clark @97
(Enugu, Nigeria) – The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has joined numerous admirers both at home and in the diaspora to celebrate a lifetime achiever, a dogged and fearless patriot, and one of the most patriotic icons of our time, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, as he turns 97 on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Chief Clark is widely recognized as an astute politician, philanthropist, educationist, and the National Leader of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF).
Chief Clark is known for his exceptional support for the Igbo community. Notably, he facilitated the renovation and equipping of Queens School in Enugu with state-of-the-art facilities shortly after the Nigerian-Biafran civil war. His efforts have been instrumental in the success of numerous eminent Igbo women, including Justice Rose Ukeje (rtd), Justice Victoria Nebo, Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Prof. Ifeoma Enemuo, Prof. Ifeoma Egbuonu, Mrs. Justina Offia (SAN), and Prof. Gloria Chukwukere. Clark’s unwavering support has made him a lifelong Patron of the school.
Clark has also been a vocal advocate against the marginalization of the Igbo, asserting that their agitations are justified. During the 2023 presidential election, he stood firmly in support of Peter Obi, demonstrating his commitment to justice and equity.
Chief E.K. Clark is renowned for his courage and integrity, consistently speaking truth to power in both dictatorship and democracy. He is celebrated as the voice of the voiceless, the father of the fatherless, a defender of the oppressed, a justice crusader, and a moral beacon.
In a statement, Chief Dr. Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, praised Clark’s inter-ethnic acumen, intellectual prowess, and unwavering stance on national issues, stating that these virtues have immortalized his name for generations to come. He expressed joy that Clark’s kindness and generosity have been rewarded with physical fitness, mental alertness, and a fulfilling life at 97.
