The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr Doris Ogala, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to facilitate the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, saying she fully supports him.
Ogala made the appeal during an interview on ABN TV’s Political Perspective, where she urged the Federal Government to review Kanu’s continued detention.
Declaring her support for the IPOB leader, she said Kanu’s past warnings and predictions had proven accurate.
“Yes, I support what Nnamdi Kanu is doing 100% because he’s like a messiah, he’s like a prophet that we didn’t see coming. Everything he had prophesied had come to pass. Everything he said is what is happening today,” she stated.
The AAC governorship candidate said that if elected governor of Abia State in 2027, one of her first actions would be to pursue Kanu’s pardon.
“If I am the governor today, the first thing I will seek is Nnamdi Kanu’s pardon,” she said.
Ogala also said her position aligns with that of the AAC, insisting the party does not support Kanu’s continued detention.
According to her, the party’s presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has openly backed Kanu and would free him if elected president.
“I know that if my president, Omoyele Sowore, who has shown his public support for Nnamdi Kanu, becomes the president, he will release Nnamdi Kanu that same day because my party, AAC, does not support what is being done to him. We are fully behind him,” she said.
She further described Kanu as more than a political figure.
“Nnamdi Kanu is not only the leader of IPOB; he is my brother, and I support him 100%,” she declared.
Ogala also used the interview to make a direct appeal to Tinubu.
“Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I am telling you with immediate effect to revisit Nnamdi Kanu’s imprisonment and have him released immediately,” Ogala said.
She maintained that Kanu’s case should be resolved through political dialogue and expressed confidence that he would regain his freedom under an AAC-led Federal Government.
