The Delta State Government has trained staff of Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Agency across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state in urban and rural water supply.
The General Manager of STOWASSA, Mr Unuafe Anthony, made this known during the agency training held recently in Asaba.
Anthony said, “Water projects are becoming more advanced and they require high supervision and monitoring techniques, hence this training.
“This capacity building is for project supervisor, monitors, and technical staff for the ongoing sustainable Urban and Rural Water supply, Sanitation and Hygiene projects across the state to meet up the standard.
“The participants should take advantage of the training to learn, relearn, and also demonstrate the importance of updating knowledge and skills on recent developments in the water sector to boost performance and enhance productivity on the job.”
Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Water Resources Development, Dr Charles Diai, who was represented by Mrs D. A. Omitaye stressed the need for project supervision, monitoring, and evaluation and its impact on service delivery.
