International flights to Nigeria to resume from the August 29th, Njenje Media News can report. This was disclosed by the Nigerian minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika through his official twitter handle.
The minister of aviation twitted, “Glad to announce the resumption of international flights from the 29th of August, 2020. Beginning with Lagos and Abuja as we did with the domestic flight resumption. Protocols and procedures will be announced in due course. We thank you for your patience”.
Recall that Nigeria closed her airspace since March 23rd, 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Njenje Media News had earlier speculated that the reopening of Nigerian Airspace is likely to coincide with the reopening of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, which has been closed for one year now.
The minister of aviation who was on a project inspection visit to the Airport last Thursday noted that the government had already spent close to the $200 million on the Akanu Ibiam International Airport. Njenje Media News, however, questions where and how $200 million was spent at the airport based on the level of work seen in and around the airport.
