An Igbo entrepreneur and cultural promoter, ESV Ekweoba Arnold, has launched two digital platforms focused on teaching, promoting and preserving the Igbo language and cultural heritage.

The initiative was unveiled in a recently released video campaign featuring the launch of two YouTube channels, “360 Akụkọ Na Egwu Igbo” and “Mụta Asụsụ Igbo TV”. The platforms are aimed at reconnecting Igbo people, particularly children and youths, with their language, traditions and cultural identity.

The video began with a warning about the gradual loss of indigenous culture, stating that “Very soon, our heritage will be lost,” while raising concerns over the declining interest in speaking Igbo among young people.

Through narration, animated cultural scenes, storytelling and live presentations, the campaign stressed the need for deliberate efforts to preserve the Igbo language. It also highlighted concerns that many parents are no longer teaching their children to speak Igbo, describing the development as a threat to the future of the people and their cultural identity.

According to the video, the new platforms were created to address the gap through digital education, entertainment and culturally relevant content tailored to younger audiences.

While “360 Akụkọ Na Egwu Igbo” focuses on Igbo stories, songs, folklore and cultural entertainment, “Mụta Asụsụ Igbo TV” centres on Igbo language and literature education.

The campaign also featured content covering traditional beliefs, moonlight tales, folklore, indigenous music, proverbs, moral lessons and family-oriented learning sessions designed to make Igbo heritage accessible to both children and adults.

The video emphasised language as an important marker of identity, unity and history, while calling on Ndị Igbo around the world to embrace and speak their mother tongue with pride.

Viewers were also encouraged to subscribe to the two platforms and share their content as part of efforts to revive interest in the Igbo language globally.

The initiative highlights the growing use of digital technology to preserve indigenous languages and cultural traditions amid concerns over the declining use of native languages among Nigerian children, youths and younger parents.
