The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reportedly replaced several candidates earlier presented by the Kwankwasiyya faction in Kano State following disagreements over an alleged breach of a 60/40 internal power sharing agreement within the party.

A document signed by the Kano State NDC Chairman, Hon. Hussaini Isah Mairiga, stated that the decision was taken to enforce an existing arrangement on the distribution of elective positions between the party’s original structure and the Kwankwasiyya bloc.

The document was also copied to the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, Kwankwasiyya leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the NDC North West Zonal Chairman.

Under the revised federal constituency list, the party approved Barrister Isma’il Idris Sani for Kumbotso, Nasiru Ali Ahmed for Nassarawa, Kabiru Ishaq Sa’id for Kano Municipal, Barrister Dayyabu Jamilu Ibrahim for Doguwa Tudun Wada, Muhammad Hamisu Abubakar for Dawakin Tofa Rimin Gado Tofa, Ibrahim Bashir Bango for Sumaila Takai, and Abdulmajid Isa Umar Mairigar Fata for Gwale.

Adjustments were also made to State House of Assembly tickets in Dala, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo and Dawakin Kudu constituencies.

Party insiders said the reshuffle was driven by the enforcement of a 60/40 sharing formula, under which the Kwankwasiyya bloc holds 60 percent of elective slots while the party’s original structure retains 40 percent.

However, the development has sparked internal tension, with reports suggesting that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is considering dumping the NDC if the affected candidates are not reinstated.
