Newly Elected Ohanaeze Ndigbo Leadership Dedicated at Enugu Cathedral; Pays Courtesy Visit to Engr. Okoye

Enugu, Nigeria — On Sunday, January 12, 2025, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Senator John Azuka Mbata, and his Deputy, Sir Okechukwu Nwadinobi, were formally dedicated at the Cathedral Church of Good Shepherd in Enugu. Most Rev. Sosthenes Eze, the Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Enugu and Bishop of Enugu North Diocese, officiated the dedication ceremony, emphasizing the spiritual aspect of their leadership roles within the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization.

During the service, Archbishop Eze urged the newly elected leaders to seek wisdom, unity, and divine guidance as they strive to represent and advance the interests of the Ndigbo globally. Many dignitaries from across AlaIgbo attended the event in Enugu.

Following the dedication, Sen. Mbata and Sir Nwadinobi visited Engr. Chris Okoye at his residence in Enugu. Engr. Okoye, a distinguished member of Ime Obi—the highest decision-making body within Ohanaeze—is also a former Chairman of the Planning & Strategy Committee and currently serves as the President of Anya-Ndi-Igbo.

This visit reinforced the leaders’ commitment to fostering collaboration among key stakeholders in AlaIgbo. Engr. Okoye, accompanied by his wife, Emeritus Prof. Ifeoma Okoye, warmly welcomed the delegation, highlighting the significance of collective efforts for the advancement of Ndigbo.

Among the notable figures at the meeting was Dr Uju Agomoh, Executive Secretary of Nzuko Umunna, who underscored the importance of dialogue and strategic planning in tackling the contemporary challenges facing AlaIgbo.
