Holders Rivers United will begin the defence of their Nigeria Professional Football League title against Lobi Stars.

The draw for the 2022/23 NPFL took place at the Sandralia Hotel, Abuja on Wednesday, 28th December 2022.
Eight-time champions, Enyimba will travel to Lafia where they will be guests of Nasarawa United for their opening fixture of the campaign.
The first Oriental derby of the campaign will be between Rangers and Abia Warriors at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The 20 teams have been divided into two groups of 10 teams each after the Interim Management Committee decided to adopt an abridged format for the new season.
The top three teams in each group will meet in a league format to decide the overall winner.
The winner of the 2022/23 campaign will go home with a whopping N100m.
All 20 clubs will get N10m each before the season commences.
