In a recent interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, monitored by Njenje Media News, former Governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, declared that outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki is “politically dead.”
Oshiomhole made this remark while discussing the outcome of the recently concluded governorship election in Edo State. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday that Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the election.
During the interview, Oshiomhole emphasized that the election result reflected the will of the Edo people. He also addressed the controversies surrounding the declaration of Okpebholo as governor-elect, saying the people of Edo would not resort to violence for political gains.
“We adhere to the principle laid out by President Jonathan, which states that no election, not even for the presidency, is worth the blood of any Nigerian. Meanwhile, you have the national chairman of the PDP fanning the flames of bloodshed over elections,” Oshiomhole remarked.
He further criticized Obaseki, stating, “I watched him on Channels, insisting it was a do-or-die affair. He suggested that if the people acted against him, it would be their demise. Well, the people have spoken, and now, politically, he is finished.”
Oshiomhole concluded by reaffirming the people’s choice, saying, “The people of Edo have decided. Monday Okpebholo, who was elected as a senator last year, has now been declared the governor-elect.”
