Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has celebrated the remarkable achievements of Nigerians excelling globally.
Obi in a statement, praised the exceptional accomplishments of Sandie Okoro and Maureen Okam Achebe, saying, “I am thrilled to celebrate these fellow Nigerians who have continued to distinguish themselves on the global stage.”
Okoro, a Nigerian-British lawyer, has been appointed Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, a first for a woman.
Obi noted, “She has consistently fought against injustice and promoted equality in society, making us proud.”
Achebe, a renowned novelist, received the Brigham and Women’s Hospital 2024 Faculty Development and Diversity Award for her outstanding contributions to clinical care, research, education, and community service.
Obi congratulated her, saying, “Her achievement is a testament to the exceptional talents of Nigerians.”
Obi reaffirmed his commitment to building a nation where hard work and excellence are valued, stating, “As we navigate our nation’s challenges, we remain unwavering in our commitment to building a New Nigeria where our youths will excel and shine globally.” He emphasized, “A New Nigeria is indeed possible and within reach.”
