Southeast won't join protest against President Tinubu - Umahi

In light of the upcoming nationwide protest over economic hardship, Minister of Works David Umahi has announced that the South-East zone of Nigeria will not participate in any demonstrations against President Bola Tinubu. Speaking in Abakaliki on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting, Umahi emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration is making difficult but necessary decisions to restore the country’s former glory.

The meeting focused on the alignment for the Ebonyi State 101km segment of the 477km Cross River-South East-North Central-Apo Abuja 6-lane superhighway. Umahi warned those inciting division in the country to cease their efforts, describing them as futile. He underscored that the South-East people are not endangered and should avoid sit-at-home protests, which he labeled as acts of economic sabotage and self-inflicted harm.

Umahi urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s legacy projects, highlighting the significant economic benefits that these projects, including the coastal highway, bring to the entire country.

The event’s highlight was the formal unveiling of the third legacy project, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which spans Ebonyi, Enugu, Benue, and Abuja.
