Zamfara: APC Calls for thorough investigation into airstrike that claimed 20 lives

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged military authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the recent accidental airstrike that resulted in the loss of over 20 lives, including members of the Community Protection Guard (CPG), local vigilantes, and residents of Tungar Kara village in Maradun Local Government Area. The party emphasized the need for measures to prevent such tragedies in the future, highlighting the importance of maintaining focus on the ongoing fight against banditry.

In a statement from APC Publicity Secretary Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party expressed its deep sorrow over the incident, extending heartfelt condolences to the Zamfara state government and its citizens, particularly to the families affected by this devastating loss. “We pray Allah to accept their martyrdom and grant their families the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he said.

The APC also acknowledged the ongoing military operations aimed at combating banditry in the state, commending the recent achievements of Operation Fasan Yamma, which successfully dismantled several bandit hideouts and resulted in the elimination of over 25 terrorists in Fakai, a known stronghold of notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji.

With intensified military efforts driving many bandits from their hideouts, the APC noted that Turji is believed to be on the run. “This operational strategy is commendable and should be maintained with the backing of all peace-loving citizens,” the statement concluded.
