The former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, has stated that he may contest the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election on a different political platform if the All Progressives Congress (APC) fails to address alleged irregularities in its recent primary.

Speaking with journalists in Lafia on Saturday after the announcement of the APC governorship primary results, which produced Senator Wadada as the winner, Adamu said he had already lodged a formal complaint with the party leadership over what he described as injustice in the process.

He maintained that his ambition to “rescue and reposition Nasarawa State” remains intact, adding that he is confident of victory in 2027 whether under the APC or another platform.

He said, “Should justice prevail, we shall continue our journey within the APC. However, “If justice is denied” we shall communicate to you the next line of action and the political platform under which we shall contest the 2027 governorship race.”

Adamu alleged that the primary election was marred by irregularities against the wishes of genuine party members across the state, blaming the situation on what he called a lack of transparency and accountability within the internal party process.

He further claimed that in areas where voting was properly conducted and results were counted, he emerged victorious.

According to him, some parts of the state did not witness elections, while result sheets were allegedly removed and manipulated by certain government officials working with some local government chairmen to produce what he described as “fictitious results” in favour of a preferred candidate.

He urged his supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and law abiding.

“We shall remain united, hopeful and committed to the struggle for fairness and a better Nasarawa State,” he said.
