The legal team of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned a call for his extrajudicial killing by Mr. Chigozie Nnabugwu, demanding a public retraction and apology from him and News Central TV.

In a statement signed by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, the lawyers described the comment as reckless, unlawful and a threat to life, arguing that it could incite violence and disrupt public order.

The legal team said it was reviewing available legal options, including complaints to relevant authorities, and warned that broadcasters could face sanctions for airing content capable of promoting violence or undermining public peace.

The statement also accused the comment of undermining the judicial process, noting that Kanu’s case remains before the court. It added that the release serves as a pre-action notice for possible legal proceedings if the demands are not met.
