Senate President Lawan’s Eleventh Hour invitation for Nigerians to Lobby their Representatives for Inclusion of an Unamended Provision for Electronic Transmission of Votes was a Ruse; since we don’t have a strong Lobbying and Pressure Group System as Exists in Established Democracies

The Shinanigans in NASS is why we Rightfully refer to many of our Legislators as Legislooters. You may have Wondered why I have Remained Unusually Silent following the passing of the Compromised Act

The Electoral Act has become so Polarising some Genuinely Fault Electronic Transmission whist others knowing it is the Surest way to Ensure their Usual Rigged Reelection

My Question is what is the Next Step. Rather than the Endless Fruitless Debates as to what is already a fait accompli we should all be Lobbying and Pressuring President Mohammed Buhari to Accent to the Act ASAP despite its Frailties

Reasons
1 Time Constraints: 2023 Elections are 18 months away if the Act is not Passed into law in time, it may be yet another Excuse like 2018 for the President not to pass the Electoral Act before the 2023 Elections and we Nigerians want better Elections in 2023

  1. Once Passed the Law can be Amended but I won’t put any Faith in that being a Possibility going by the Antecedents of our Legislooters.
  2. The Contentiously Amended Claus 52 can be Challenged in Court on grounds of Constitutionality as INEC’s Independence is Constitutionally Protected. This Clause Clearly Flauts INEC’s Independence.
  3. INEC has Insisted that it can and Will Transmit Results Electronically. The Accent of this Act will give them Legal Backing to do so.
  4. By passing this Act it will be another Feather in the Cap of PMB to Further Bolster his Democratic Primciples for Posterity.

It is time for Nigerians who want and Beleive in True Democracy to Galvanise and Ensure our President Accents the Amended Electoral Act Now..

Aggrieved Nigerians can also Ensure those Legislators that did not do their Bidding or were Avoidably Abscent do not Return to any Elected office in 2023.

The Time to Act Appropriately is Now don’t Rest on your Laurels the Electoral Act Amendment is not a Done Deal.
